Template:Infobox Character Cassandra Morgan was the mother of Nathan and Samuel Drake.

Biography

Nothing is known about Nate and Sam's parents until Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, where it was revealed by Katherine Marlowe that their mother committed suicide before Nate turned five years old. Whether it was due to grief or neglect, Cassandra's husband decided to send his sons to the Saint Francis' Boy's Home rather than continue raising them.

During Chapter 16 of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Nathan and Sam broke into Evelyn's manor to get back their mother's diaries and possessions (that their father had sold). When Evelyn caught them, she told them that their mother was a brilliant historian who had worked for her, and that she and Cassandra believed Sir Francis Drake to have heirs, despite what history says. At the time of her death, Cassandra was studying the lost treasure of Henry Avery. With the information that Evelyn gave them, Sam and Nate were inspired to go into treasure hunting themselves, hoping to finish what their mother had started.

Trivia

  • The name Cassandra is of Greek origin, meaning "shining upon men."[1]
  • The surname Morgan is of Welsh, Irish, Scottish, and Celtic origins, meaning either "great kingdom" or "great hundred."[2]
  • Despite Marlowe saying that Cassandra committed suicide, Evelyn says it was an illness. It's possible that she suffered from mental illness, such as major depression, which lead to her suicide. It is also possible that whatever illness she had was causing her a great deal of suffering, and she wished to end it.
  • In the epilogue of Uncharted 4 Nate and Elena are revealed to have named their daughter Cassie, seemingly after her grandmother.
