Template:Q Template:Infobox Character Hector Alcázar, also known as the Butcher of Panama, was a Panamanian drug lord and the false tertiary antagonist of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

Throughout the majority of the game, he is believed to be the man who has set A Thief's End's events into motion, by supposedly threatening Samuel Drake into finding the lost treasure of Henry Avery for him. In reality, he has been dead since before the events of A Thief's End take place.

Biography

Background

Victor Sullivan mentions in Chapter 10 that he once met Alcázar in Japan when Alcázar's boss traded with Sully. The two didn't interact, but Sully noticed Alcázar's traits before "getting the hell out of Japan".

Sam's story

Samuel, in a minute we will either be free or dead. Are you ready?

Alcázar to Sam.

Sam told Nate that he was Alcázar's cellmate for a year, during which he repeatedly mentioned finding Avery's treasure and the fact only he knew of its location. One day, Alcázar's men break into the prison to get their leader out and Alcázar, believing Sam will help lead him to the treasure, takes him along with orders to his men to keep Sam alive and unharmed.

However, once free, Alcázar realizes that Sam was lying to him about knowing the exact location of the treasure. Instead of killing him, Alcázar decides to give him three months to find the treasure.

Reality

In reality, there was no break out and Alcázar had no involvement with Sam whatsoever. Sam was actually released by fellow treasure hunter Rafe Adler, via bribery. Rafe would later reveal to the Drake brothers that by the time they have reached Libertalia, Alcázar has been dead for about six months, killed during a shootout in Argentina.

Character Design

Personality

According to Sully, Alcázar was a quietly intense man who could explode at the slightest provocation. In Sam's fabrication, Alcázar is ruthless, ambitious, and Machiavellian, with plans to escape prison the moment he set foot there. He also condemns the drunk and singing guards for being content with their "small lives," indicating he sees them as something lesser than himself.
