Descriptive TextEdit

Evidence of the Spanish conquest of the Americas can be found throughout the region.

This mystery is concerned with the Spanish Conquest of the Americas during the 15th and 16th centuries. After Columbus discovered America in 1492, the Spanish and Portuguese expanded their empires in the New World, enslaving native populations, destroying their civilisations (the Aztecs and Incas among them) and forcing them to convert to Christianity.

Components of the MysteryEdit

Musket PiecesEdit

By the sixteenth century the musket, or arquebus, had become a common weapon for many conquistadors.

The Musket Pieces are found as a Treasure in Chapter 1: "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet". On the other side of the rope bridge, turn right and drop off the ledge. Follow the path right to find the Treasure.

Spanish HelmetEdit

The regimantal insignia on this helmet is the Nueva Galicia coat of arms, proving the soldiers were Coronado's men.

The Spanish Helmet is a Treasure found during Chapter 2: "No Prison Tats". It is acquired automatically during the first cutscene with Marisa Chase.

SkullEdit

The lack of bludgeon marks proves that the Conquistadors were not killed by the Kuna, who used maces or clubs in warfare.

The Skull is a Treasure found during Chapter 2: "No Prison Tats". Like the Spanish Helmet, it is acquired automatically during the first cutscene with Marisa Chase.

Nueva Galicia CarvingEdit

Sixteenth-century graffiti, the Nueva Galicia insignia links this carving to the helmet found at the massacre.

The Nueva Galicia Carving is a Charcoal Rubbing found in Chapter 3: "Nothing But Some Old Bones".

Woodcut of CoronadoEdit

The Woodcut of Coronado is a Treasure found in Chapter 16: "Chamber of the Seven Fathers". After entering the Chamber, there will be a table in front of the seven statues with several glinting objects on it. Tap those glints to acquire the objects, one of which will be the Woodcut of Coronado.

Chainmail ShirtEdit

The Chainmail Shirt is a Treasure found in Chapter 21: "Without a Paddle".

Spanish Horse BitEdit

The Spanish Horse Bit is a Treasure found in Chapter 22: "Chew the Hide Off a Rhino".

Conquistador SpurEdit

The Conquistador Spur is a Treasure found in Chapter Chapter 23: "Keep Your Head Down".

Bridle JinglesEdit

The Bridle Jingles are a Treasure found in Chapter 24: "Ride of the Valkyries".

Barrote Style NailsEdit

The Barrote Style Nails are a Treasure found in Chapter 26: "Farther Than It Looks".

Spanish HalberdEdit

The Spanish Halberd is a Treasure found in Chapter 28: "Trapped Like Rats"

Albarello FragmentsEdit

The Albarello Fragments are a Treasure found in Chapter 29: "Doorway of the Gods".
