Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a action-adventure/third-person shooter video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released for the PlayStation 4 on August 22, 2017. [1] It is an expansion pack for the entire Uncharted series, and the sixth installment within the Uncharted franchise, following 2016's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

Featuring a new single-player campaign, The Lost Legacy is set six-to-twelve months following the conclusion of A Thief's End. The game follows the adventures of Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross as they scout India to uncover the Tusk of Ganesha.

This will be the first Uncharted game in the series to not star Nathan Drake and the first game in the series to feature a new protagonist.

The game is expected to take over ten hours to complete.[2]

The game costs $40 to pre-order, but those with Uncharted 4's triple pack will receive it for free. Pre-ordering the game grants the player a free PS4 theme and a copy of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy for the PS4. Owning the triple pack does not count as a pre-order.

Plot

Set after the events of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Chloe Frazer must enlist the aid of renowned mercenary Nadine Ross from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in order to recover a fabled ancient Indian artifact and keep it out of the hands of ruthless war profiteer, Asav.

Together, they’ll venture deep into the mountains of India in search of the legendary artifact. Along the way, they’ll learn to work together to unearth the mystery of the artifact, fight their way through fierce opposition, and prevent the region from falling into chaos.[3]

Development

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was announced on December 3, 2016 at PlayStation Experience.

Since The Lost Legacy is set in India, Naughty Dog took inspiration from Hinduism and the mythology tied to the region when creating the story. Naughty Dog has also stated that the game will have a different feel to previous Uncharted games, but will still fit within the context of the Uncharted universe.

Naughty Dog has stated:

"We wanted this adventure to feature all of the hallmarks of the series, from cinematic storytelling set within exotic destinations, to dynamic combat and intricate puzzles. It’s our biggest story expansion to-date and will be available as a standalone game on store shelves and for digital download."[4]

Design

Kurt Margenau (Director for The Lost Legacy) said that:

"Fans can expect the same 'wide-linear' level design seen in Uncharted 4. In fact, The Lost Legacy is 'going even a little more wide'."

Margenau has also mentioned that there will be driving sections similar to the Madagascar chase in Uncharted 4.[5]

Gameplay

Chloe is the primary protagonist in The Lost Legacy. She will feature her own fighting style, and won't be as "brawly" as Nathan Drake.[5]

Also, another change to gameplay concerns stealth combat. Chloe will be able to equip silent weapons to take out her foes from afar.[6]
