Naughty Dog have developed several patches (alternatively referred to as title updates) to support Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Updates have fixed a variety of multiplayer game issues such as map glitches, player respawn locations, "rebalanced" various game attributes (hitbox and weapon damage etc.), and added features.

Overview

Title Updates must go through a quality assurance process with Sony, who publish the updates. Players are notified when an update is available for download when they launch the game from the XMB. The update will then be installed to the HDD. Updates are required to play muliplayer.

Title updates are different from "LiveData Updates" which only make minor changes to the multiplayer.

1.05 Title Update

  • Weapon damage and attributes have been rebalanced
  • On-screen display of medals awarded during a match has been updated
  • Implemented detection and removal of flagrantly idle players from the active matchmaking player pool
  • Cash penalty for leaving matches has been adjusted and is now tiered by player level as follows:
Levels 1 – 20 = -10,000
Levels 21 – 40 = -20,000
Levels 41 – 60 = -40,000
  • Updated player networking protocols to remove all occurrences of “error syncing player data,” Level resets and Ranked playlist Skill Level resets

The re-balancing of the weapon damage and attributes was met with frustration and anger from many players, many of whom campaigned to have the game returned to the settings of Title Update 1.04.
